Biography

Eiji Kurokawa (born April 17, 1975 in Kochi Prefecture) is a multi-expressive Japanese enka singer and actor. He started playing the piano at an early age and played drums in a rock band during his junior high school years. Upon moving to Tokyo, he met his teacher Akira Suga, and after four years of training as a manager, he made his debut as a singer in 2003 with "Otoko Sukkiri Tokaido. With his handsome face and strong singing voice, he began acting in 2006, and on May 13, 2009, released the single "Yamazakura". The song was composed by Katsuhiko Miki, and is a lyrical enka masterpiece that sings of the sad yet dignified aesthetics of a man. He went on to release a series of songs that evoked a man's melancholy, including "Midnight Blues" and"Otoko Wailing. He also has a deep love for his hometown, Kochi, and is eager to create songs on the theme of the Yosakoi Festival. While carrying on the tradition of enka, he has continued to take his own unique stance.
