Biography

Megumi Shinkawa (born July 12, 1984, in Tokyo) is a Japanese enka singer. Her real name is Mami Niya.She made her debut on August 23, 2006, releasing the single "Furarechatta yo" under the stage name Chiaki Mami. She later changed her name to Mami Akiyoshi and then to Megumi Shinkawa, continuing her career under the latter name. Her genres are enka and kayōkyoku, and she has gained a following for her emotionally rich vocals and approachable personality.Her representative songs include “Machiwabite” (2017), “Yūhikawa” (2018), “Sanriku Kaigan” (2019), “Sakura-gai Kaigan” (2021), “Kanashii Kuchibeni” (2024), and “Anata no Heya”(2026). Her major awards include the New Artist Encouragement Award from the Japan Singers Association and the Encouragement Award at the First Music Festival of the Japan Composers Association in 2008, as well as the Fighting Spirit Award at the 2017 Crown Hit Awards in 2018.
