Biography

Ed Maverick, born Eduardo Hernández Saucedo in 2001 in Delicias, Chihuahua, emerged as a key voice in Mexican folk and alternative music. Teaching himself guitar in high school, he began sharing original songs online, leading to the independent release of Mix pa' llorar en tu cuarto (2018). The album's breakout single, "Fuentes de Ortiz," became a viral hit and later achieved diamond certification. After signing with Universal Music México in 2019, the album was reissued and climbed to number 2 on the Mexican Albums Chart. That same year, he released Transiciones (2019) and became one of Mexico's fastest-rising artists, selling out major venues like the Teatro Metropolitán. Despite his rapid ascent, Ed Maverick faced intense online harassment, which led him to take a temporary step back from social media. His deeply personal third album, Eduardo (2021), reflected this period, earning critical acclaim and a spot on Rolling Stone's best Spanish-language albums of the year. His collaboration with C. Tangana on "Párteme la Cara" brought further recognition, landing him a Latin Grammy. In 2024, he continued his introspective songwriting with La nube en el jardín, solidifying his place as a defining voice in Latin American indie folk.
