Biography

The Crane Wives, an American indie rock band from Grand Rapids, Michigan, was formed in 2010 by Emilee Petersmark and Kate Pillsbury. The duo initially performed under the name at a local restaurant before expanding to include Dan Rickabus, Ben Zito, and Tom Gunnels. Their debut album Safe Ship Harbored was released on May 12, 2011 and received several local awards including Local Spin of the Year from Grand Rapids Press and Jammies Special Jury Prize from WYCE. The band continued to tour extensively through 2013 and 2014. Subsequent albums include Coyote Stories (2015), Foxlore (2016), and Beyond Beyond Beyond (2024).
