Sidney Onoriode Esiri, known as Dr. Sid, was born on May 1, 1980, in Lagos, Nigeria. He initially pursued dentistry at the University of Ibadan before transitioning to music. Dr. Sid began his career as a choreographer with Trybe Records and joined Da Trybe, contributing to the hit song "Oya" (2002). His debut single "Don't Stop" topped the MBI top ten for eight weeks in 2003. After completing his dentistry degree, Dr. Sid moved to the UK, worked with various artists, and then returned to Nigeria. He signed with Mo' Hits Records in 2007 and released his first solo album Turning Point (2010), which included the hit single "Over the Moon." Following a split at Mo' Hits Records, Dr. Sid joined Mavin Records and released his second album Siduction (2013).
