Biography

Driza Bone, occasionally stylised as Drizabone, are a UK-based dance music and remixing ensemble that rose to prominence in the early 1990s. The group was founded by producers Vincent Garcia and Billy April (later known as Billy Freeman). Driza Bone gained significant attention with their remix of Shanice's 1991 hit "I Love Your Smile," which reached No. 2 on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. As recording artists, their most notable track was "Real Love," peaking at No. 16 on the UK Singles Chart in June 1991. The group's lineup featured various female vocalists over time, including Sophie Jones, Dee Heron, and Kymberley Peer. Their debut album, Conspiracy, was released in 1994 and reached No. 72 on the UK Albums Chart. Driza Bone also produced remixes for artists such as Lisa Stansfield, Mary J. Blige, Duran Duran, Kylie Minogue, and Lulu. On July 15, 2025, it was announced that Billy April (later known as Billy Freeman) died at 61 after a short period of illness.
