Biography

Doug Sheldon, born Bernard Bobroff on 22 June 1936 in London, was a pop singer and actor known for his brief but notable career in the music industry. His music career began when he was discovered by record producer and manager Bunny Lewis while performing on stage, leading to a recording contract with Decca Records despite having no previous singing experience. His debut single, "Book of Love", did not make it into the charts, but his follow-up cover of "Runaround Sue" reached number 36 on the UK Singles Chart. Subsequent releases included "Your Ma Said You Cried in Your Sleep Last Night", which peaked at number 29, and "I Saw Linda Yesterday", which also reached number 36. His music career was relatively short-lived, as he returned to acting by the mid-1960s, appearing in various TV shows and films. In 2007, his entire Decca discography was released on CD by Vocalion Records.
