Dori Freeman, born and raised in Galax, Virginia, is an American singer-songwriter. Growing up in a musical family, she was influenced by her father Scott Freeman and grandfather Willard Gayheart, both musicians. In late 2014, Dori Freeman sent a Facebook message to Teddy Thompson, who decided to produce her album after hearing her music. The self-titled Dori Freeman (2016) was funded through Kickstarter and released by Free Dirt Records. The album received critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone Country calling it "a strong contender for Americana debut of the year." NPR praised its emotional nuance and fully formed voice. Following this success, she released Letters Never Read (2017) through Blue Hens Music / MRI, followed by Every Single Star (2019), and Ten Thousand Roses (2021). Her most recent release is the single "Do You Recall" (2023).
