Biography

Split Lip Rayfield, an American vocal and acoustic instrumental group from Wichita, Kansas, was formed in 1995. The band consisted of Kirk Rundstrom (guitar), Eric Mardis (banjo), Wayne Gottstine (mandolin), and Jeff Eaton (bass). In 1998, the trio of Rundstrom, Eaton, and Mardis recorded their self-titled debut album Split Lip Rayfield, released by Bloodshot Records. The following year, Gottstine joined, and they released In The Mud, featuring fan favorites like "3.2 Flu" and "Devil." Their subsequent albums included Never Make It Home (2001) and Should Have Seen It Coming (2004). In 2008, the group released "I'll Be Around," dedicated to the late Rundstrom following his cancer diagnosis. The group's sixth studio recording, On My Way, was released in 2017.
