Driftwood is an Americana/folkârock group originating from Binghamton, Newâ¯York, founded in 2005 by highâschool friends Danâ¯Forsyth and Joeâ¯Kollar. The bandâs early lineâup included Forsyth (guitar, vocals), Kollar (banjo, guitar, percussion, vocals), Jonâ¯Doll (bass), Chrisâ¯Duddy (mandolin), and Mikeâ¯Torres (drums); by 2008 violinist Claireâ¯Byrne joined, and in 2011 Joeyâ¯Arcuri replaced Doll on bass, completing the current formation with Samâ¯Fishman on drums. Driftwoodâs debut selfâproduced album Rally Day was independently released in 2009, followed by Aâ¯Rockâ¯&â¯Rollâ¯Heart under Oldâ¯Boyâ¯Records in Novemberâ¯2011. The selfâfunded, independently released eponymous album Driftwood appeared in Decemberâ¯2013, recorded with Grammyâwinning engineer Robbyâ¯Hunter, and earned airtime on NPRâs Mountain Stage and Music City Roots. Subsequent releases include Live at Grassroots 2014 (Julyâ¯2015), City Lights (Novemberâ¯4â¯2016), Live at The Purple Fiddle (Novemberâ¯2018), Tree of Shade (Decemberâ¯2019), and December Last Call (Marchâ¯2024).
