Morton Donald Isaacson, known professionally as Don Lane, was born on November 13, 1933, in New York City. He began performing in his teenage years, forming a double act called Donny and the Duke before being drafted into the US Army. His breakthrough came when he won the All-Army entertainment contest, leading to an appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1955. After adopting the stage name Don Lane, he performed in nightclubs across New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. Lane moved to Australia where he hosted Tonight with Don Lane on the Nine Network from 1965 until 1969, and The Don Lane Show from 1975 to 1983. He released several singles including "We Were Lovers Then" (1970) and "One More Mountain To Climb" (1971). He passed away on October 22, 2009.
