Biography

Dog Fashion Disco, formed in 1995 in Rockville, Maryland, initially consisted of Todd Smith, Greg Combs, and John Ensminger. Originally named Hug The Retard, they changed their name to Dog Fashion Disco before releasing any material. Their first two self-released albums were Erotic Massage (1997) and Experiments In Alchemy (1998). After signing with Outerloop Records, they released The Embryo's in Bloom in 2000. The band gained wider popularity following their appearance on USA Network's FarmClub that year. They then signed with Spitfire Records for Anarchists of Good Taste (2001), featuring a collaboration with Serj Tankian from System of a Down on the track "Mushroom Cult". Dog Fashion Disco released subsequent albums, including Committed to a Bright Future in 2003 and Adultery in 2006, before disbanding in December 2006. They reunited periodically between 2008 and 2013, before reforming in 2013 and releasing their first album in eight years, Sweet Nothings, in 2014.
