Biography

Diana Decker, born on January 9, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, was an American-born British actress, singer, and television personality. At age four, she moved to Britain with her mother. Her first film appearance was in San Demetrio London (1943), followed by roles in various musical comedies and light films throughout the 1940s and 1950s. Decker's recording career began with "Poppa Piccolino", a version of the Italian song "Papaveri e papere," which reached number 2 on the UK singles chart. She also appeared in television series and stage productions, including Born Yesterday (1949) at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin and One Minute Please! radio panel game. Her final film appearance was in the horror film Devils of Darkness (1965). Despite subsequent singles failing to chart, her recordings were reissued in 2002 on The Complete Diana Decker. Decker died on January 4, 2019, in London.
