Biography

Despina Olympiou, born Despina on October 17, 1975, in Limassol, Cyprus, is a Greek Cypriot singer. She began her musical journey in Cyprus before moving to London to study piano and music theory at Trinity College of London. Olympiou's career started in 1992, and she moved to Athens, Greece, where she collaborated with notable artists such as Yiannis Parios and Haris Alexiou. Her first album, Ton Mation Sou I Kalimera, was released in 2000. In 2002, she signed with Universal Greece and released the CD single "Vale Mousiki", featuring a duet with Michalis Hatzigiannis titled "Na 'soun allios", which reached platinum. She continued to release successful albums including Afto Einai Agapi (2005), Mazi Chorista (2007), and Mia Stigmi (2009). In 2013, she represented Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest with "An Me Thimasai" but did not qualify for the final.
