Biography
Formed in Japan in 1992, Deen is a rock band founded by vocalist Ikemori Shuichi and keyboardist Yamane Oyake-ro. Originally meant to be a studio-only project, the group eventually brought in guitarist / bassist Tagawa Shinji (1994 â 2018) and drummer Naoki Uzumoto (1993 â 1999) for live and studio work. Since then, the line-up has been fluid with only Shuichi and Oyake-ro remaining as the core band members throughout their career. They released their self-titled debut album in 1994, which went on to sell over a million copies. The album included the Number 1 single "Hitomi Sorasanaideâ and other Deen classics. Deen began touring in 1996 and released the album I Wish (1996), which was not as commercially successful. However, Deenâs fanbase continued to support the group and they returned in 1998 with the album The Day. Further albums include Need Love (2000), Pray (2002), Utopia (2003), Road Cruisinâ (2004), and Diamonds (2006). In 2008, they released the single "Eien no Ashita,â which debuted at Number 6 on the singles chart and was their biggest hit in 12 years. Deen continued to release albums â over 30 including studio releases, compilations, live albums, and covers albums â and have remained a popular live group over the years. In June 2022, Deen â now down to a duo â released the EP The Last Journey. The cover album of 80's Japanese rock music, ROCK IN CITY band covers only, was released on January 21, 2026.
