Biography

Miho Komatsu, born on March 30, 1975, in Kobe, Hyogo, is a former Japanese singer-songwriter, and essayist. She stepped into the music industry by writing "Kono Machi de Kimi to Kurashitai" for the band Field of View. Her breakthrough came in May 1997 with the release of her debut single "Nazo," which became the theme song for the anime series Case Closed and peaked at number 9 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart. It was also certified gold in Japan. Miho Komatsu's debut album, also titled Nazo, was released in 1997 and cracked the Top 5 of the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart. Over the following years, she continued releasing albums such as Mirai (1998), everywhere (2000), and A thousand feelings (2001), all of which landed in the Top 10 of the local charts. As a prolific songwriter, Komatsu wrote songs for various artists, achieving three Top 10 hits on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart. Her notable works include "Kimi ga Inai Natsu" for Deen and "Sabitsuita Machine Gun de Ima o Uchinukō" for Wands. She achieved more success with the release of her first compilation album Miho Komatsu Best Once More in 2006, hitting number 21 in Japan. However, she retired from the music industry that year without a formal announcement. Throughout her decade-long career, Komatsu released 26 singles, eight studio albums, and two essay books. She remained reclusive, never making television appearances or performing live.
