Biography

Dean Evenson, born on December 14, 1944 in Denver, Colorado, is an American flutist and new-age musician, composer, producer, flutist, and videographer. He began his career playing flute for the psychedelic rock group The Blues Magoos on their album Never Goin' Back to Georgia in 1969. Evenson's music often combines sounds of nature with flute melodies and other instruments, creating an ambiance suitable for massage, meditation, yoga, and relaxation. In 1979, he and his wife Dudley founded the independent record company Soundings of the Planet. Notable collaborations include work with Li Xiangting, master of the guqin, Russian avant-garde composer Sergey Kuryokhin, and Native American elder Cha-das-ska-dum. Evenson released numerous albums, including Joy to the World (1986), Forest Rain (1993), and Sound Healing (1998). His work was featured in the PBS series The Way West and the preview for The Jungle Book.
