De Havenzangers, a Dutch fold and party music band, was founded in Apeldoorn in 1977 by Henk Pleket. The band achieved their first major success with the single "Aan het strand stil en verlaten" and released their debut album Hé dans met mij. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, they released hit albums including Slaan Weer Toe (1984) and Te Land - Ter Zee - En In 'T Cafe (1989), which won an Edison Award. Notable songs include "Trouw niet voor je veertig bent" (1987) and "Rome, we komen" (1989), which was written for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. The group scored nine gold and seven platinum albums.
