David McGovern is a UK pop singer-songwriter who rose to fame as an actor on ITV show Vera, playing a CID detective. He branched out into music in 2020 with a cover of East 17's Christmas classic, "Stay Another Day" and has released a further clutch of singles, including 2021's "Beautiful Girl" and another festive offering in 2021, the Drew Michael-featuring "Stay the Same," which was packaged with a Santa Se-assisted version of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" on the flipside. In 2025, the singleâwhich was released in aid of the Batten Disease Family Association charityâfound its way into the UK's Top 100 Singles Sales Official chart, where it reached number 32.
