Biography
An eclectic singer, David Linx got his start in jazz at an early age. Born in Brussels on March 22, 1965, David Gistelinck (real name) formed his first band, The Baldwin Project, when he was less than twenty. He invited the black American writer to read his poems on A Lover's Question (1987). Other albums followed, before a lasting association with pianist Diederick Wissels starting with the album Kamoot (1992). David Linx worked with the cream of the Belgian music scene in a variety of formations, lending his beautiful organ to projects by Claude Nougaro, Michel Benita, Daniel Yvinec, André Ceccarelli, Khalil Chahine, Jon Hendricks and Laurent Cugny. Now a singing teacher at the Brussels Conservatory, he continues to record with Diederick Wissels and Paolo Fresu(Heartland, 2001), Maria Joao(Follow the Songlines in 2010), or big bands like the Brussels Jazz Orchestra on Changing Faces (2007) and A Different Porgy & Another Bess (2012). After Winds of Change (2013) and Is That Pop Music?!? (2013), in which he rubs shoulders with pop choruses, he turns to chanson with A Nou Garo (2013) and Brel (2016). In 2018, 7000 Miles sees him surrounded by Pierre-Alain Goualch, Diego Imbert and André Ceccarelli, while Real Men Cry (2025), is conceived with Gregory Privat, Chris Jennings, Arnaud Dolmen and Hermon Mehari.
