David Lee Garza is an American Tejano musician and bandleader born on February 15, 1957, in Poteet. He achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by Tejano music and for his proficiency with the accordion. Garza achieved professional recognition for a career that began after he started playing the accordion at age eight and joined his father in the ensemble Margarito Hernandez y su Conjunto. The group achieved professional recognition for changing its name to David Lee Garza y su Conjunto in 1968 and adding saxophones in the mid-1970s. His recording career began with the debut studio recording Cuatro caminos (1981) released with the ensemble Los Musicales. Garza achieved professional recognition for jumpstarting the careers of vocalists including Ramiro âRamâ Herrera, Emilio Navaira, Oscar G., Jay Perez, Marcos Orozco, Mark Ledesma, and Ben Ozuna. His discography included the studio recording Just Friends (2013), which achieved professional recognition for receiving the Latin Grammy Award for Best Tejano Album in 2013. He achieved professional recognition for the song âNo me queda claroâ (2025) being nominated for the Collaboration of the Year Award at the Tejano Music Awards.
