Biography

David Judson Clemmons is an American progressive metal and post-rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Clemmons began a musical career in 1987 with the progressive thrash project Ministers of Anger, which featured future Machine Head drummer Dave McClain. In 1991, Clemmons co-founded the progressive metal band Damn the Machine, releasing a self-titled album in 1993 through A&M Records before the group disbanded in 1995. Clemmons subsequently formed the trio JUD, releasing the debut album Something Better (1996) and several follow-up records including Sufferboy (2008). Clemmons also explored acoustic and melancholic textures with the project The Fullbliss, debuting in 2001 with Fools and Their Splendor. His solo career included the albums Life in the Kingdom of Agreement (2004), Cold White Earth (2011), and Everything A War (2025). The 2025 release Everything A War reached Number 1 on the Guitar & Bass Magazine charts.
