Biography
Darrell Mansfield is an American vocalist, harmonica player, songwriter, recording artist, and performer of various genres, including gospel, contemporary Christian music, blues, blues rock, rock, country rock, and soul/R&B. In 1974, he formed the Christian country rock band Jubal, which later changed its name to Gentle Faith and released their self-titled album in 1976. Mansfield then formed the Darrell Mansfield Band in 1977. He recorded over 30 albums, including notable releases such as Higher Power (1979), Get Ready (1980), and The Vision (1983). He collaborated with artists like Eddie Van Halen, Jon Bon Jovi, and Raphael Saadiq. Mansfield was inducted into the Hohner Harmonica Hall of Fame in 1980 and served as the "Ambassador to California" for the Blues Hall of Fame. Since 2017, he has not been performing due to his battle with dementia.
