Biography

Darkane, a Swedish metal band originating from Helsingborg in 1998, was formed by Christofer Malmström and drummer Peter Wildoer. The duo recorded a two-song demo that secured them a record deal with War Music. The initial lineup included bassist Jörgen Löfberg, guitarist Klas Ideberg, and vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid of Soilwork. Strid's departure led to Lawrence Mackrory taking over vocal duties for the debut album Rusted Angel. After several lineup changes, including Andreas Sydow replacing Mackrory, Darkane released their second album Insanity in 2001 and third album Expanding Senses in 2002. The band's fourth album Layers of Lies, released in 2005, was followed by a live compilation DVD Layers of Live in 2010. Darkane continued with Demonic Art in 2008 and The Sinister Supremacy in 2013, featuring Lawrence Mackrory on vocals once again. In 2024, Tobiasz Derengowski was announced as the new vocalist following Mackrory's departure.
