Biography

Fernando Mangual Vázquez, born on February 29, 1980, in Ponce, is a Puerto Rican singer who first emerged in the reggaetón scene. He began his career in the early 2000s, contributing to the production Fatal Fantassy 2 with the singles "No te hagas la difícil" and "Que empiéze la acción". In 2002 he met Ñejo, and the pair released "Estar enamorado" and "Vámonos de aquí" before forming the duo Ñejo & Dálmata in 2000. Their debut album Broke & Famous (2007) reached number 8 on the Latin Rhythms Albums chart and number 9 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers. The duo issued the EP Special Edition (2012) featuring "Dile a tu amiga", which later became a solo single for Dálmata. He pursued a solo path while maintaining the duo, releasing the compilation Dálmata Collection (2014) and the EP Científico Loco (2016). In the late 2010s he stayed visible through features, including Sebastián Yatra’s “Sutra,” while continuing to release standalone tracks. In the 2020s he marked legacy moments with projects like HAPPINESS (2022) and a refreshed anniversary version of “Dile a Tu Amiga” titled “D.A.T.A.,” then kept a steady singles run into 2024–2025 with titles such as “LOBA” and “Confesarte.”
