D'erlanger, a Japanese rock band from Kyoto Prefecture, was formed in December 1983 by guitarist Cipher and bassist Seela. The group initially played speed and power metal but transitioned to punk rock after recruiting drummer Tetsu and vocalist Kyo for their debut album La Vie En Rose (February 10, 1989). Despite being released on an indie label, the album sold out and was reissued three times that year, earning D'erlanger a major label deal with BMG Japan. Their second album, Basilisk (March 7, 1990), reached number five on the charts. However, in December 1990, the band announced their sudden disbandment despite their growing popularity and influence on the visual kei scene. In 2007, D'erlanger reunited, releasing Lazzaro (March 14, 2007), which featured a harder sound with gothic rock elements. Since then, they have released six more studio albums, including The Price of Being a Rose is Loneliness (April 30, 2008) and #Sixx (May 22, 2013). They embarked on extensive tours both domestically and internationally, notably performing in Taipei, Taiwan (July 25, 2009), and South Korea (October 30, 2009).
