Biography
Cynthia Gooding was an American folk singer born on August 12, 1924 in Rochester, Minnesota. She developed a love for folk music and the blues during her teens in Mexico City, learning Spanish and honing her skills as a singer and guitarist. Returning to the United States in the mid-1940s, Gooding moved to New York City and performed at Greenwich Village clubs. She recorded several albums for Elektra Records, including Sing Spanish, Mexican and Turkish Folk Songs (1953) and Italian Folk Songs (1954). Gooding also hosted Folksinger's Choice, a radio program on WBAI in New York around 1960. She died on February 10, 1988, at the age of 63.
