Biography
Janice Burns & Jon Doran are a British folk duo formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2017. Trained as guitarists, the musicians also use traditional instruments such as the bouzouki or mandolin for their songs inspired by English, Scottish or Irish folklore. After an untitled debut EP in 2020, the album No More the Green Hills (2022) received critical acclaim and charted in the official folk charts, while the duo embarked on an extensive tour that included appearances at gatherings such as the Cambridge Folk Festival, Edinburgh Tradfest, Sidmouth Folk Festival, Cecil Sharp House and Sage Gateshead. Back in the studio in 2024, Janice Burns and Jon Doran celebrate Celtic carols with the album Great Joy to the New, which reaches number 97 in the UK download charts.
