Biography
Ranagri, an Irish-English folk group from London, was formed in 2011 by Dónal Rogers (guitar, vocals) and friends Eliza Marshall (flutes, whistles), Jean Kelly (harp), and Tad Sargent (bodhran, bouzouki). The band's name is derived from the Irish village Rathnagrew. Ranagri released their debut EP The Bogeyman in 2013, followed by their first album Fort of the Hare in 2014 under Stockfisch Records. In 2015, they collaborated with Tony Christie on The Great Irish Songbook. The band's lineup evolved over the years, with Joe Danks replacing Tad Sargent in 2016 and Eleanor Turner taking Jean Kelly's place in 2017. Ranagri released several albums, including Voices (2016) and Playing for Luck (2018). During the COVID-19 pandemic, further lineup changes occurred with Eleanor Dunsdon replacing Eleanor Turner and Jordan Murray joining as percussionist. The band released Tradition II in 2022, featuring reworked classics from British and Irish folk music. In 2025, they collaborated with Tony Christie again for The Great Irish Songbook Volume II.
