Biography

Zsuzsa Cserháti was a Hungarian pop, soul, jazz, and rock singer born Zsuzsanna Cserháti on June 22, 1948, in Budapest. She studied classical ballet for ten years before beginning her singing career in 1965. In 1972, Cserháti released her debut song “He Was Not a Painter”. Her recording of “Édes kisfiam” (My Sweet Little Son) was a major recording in her career. After becoming inactive in public life during the 1980s, she released the album Hamu és gyémánt (Ashes and Diamonds) in 1996. Cserháti received the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary in 1998. She died on July 23, 2003, from a ruptured artery.
