Cornelia Maria "Corry" Brokken, born on December 3, 1932, in the Netherlands, was a singer known for her contributions to pop music and traditional pop. Her career began with a significant breakthrough when she won the Nationaal Songfestival 1956 with "Voorgoed voorbij", which allowed her to represent the Netherlands in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest alongside Jetty Paerl. Brokken's victory at the Nationaal Songfestival 1957 with "Net als toen" secured her a second consecutive appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest, where she won the competition for the Netherlands. Following this triumph, she released several albums including Corry's Bed-Time Story and De Corry Brokken show, and collaborated with artists like Snip en Snap in the Sleeswijk Revue. In 1976, Brokken served as the presenter of the Eurovision Song Contest held in The Hague. She ended her singing career in 1973 to pursue law, eventually becoming a judge. Brokken returned to the entertainment industry in the 1990s, performing on stage and recording new albums such as Milord - 75 grote Erfolge - 75 grote successen. She passed away on May 31, 2016, at the age of 83.
