Edmund Dantes Urick, known professionally as Ed Ames, was born on July 9, 1927, in Malden, Massachusetts. Ames pursued an acting career in the early 1960s, starring in various productions including The Crucible and Carnival!. His breakthrough role came as Mingo on the television series Daniel Boone, which aired from 1964 to 1970. Concurrently, Ames returned to singing with his first solo chart single "Try to Remember" in 1965. He achieved significant success with "My Cup Runneth Over", reaching number 8 on the pop charts and Number 1 on adult contemporary radio in 1967. Other notable hits that year included "Time, Time" and "When the Snow Is on the Roses". He returned in 2011 with Christmas with Ed Ames and in 2014, released compilation album Ed Ames On Broadway: Opening Night / More I Cannot Wish You. Ames passed away on May 21, 2023.
