Pantokrator is a Swedish Christian progressive death metal band from Luvehult, Småland. Formed in fall 1996, the group initially started as a cover band before deciding to write original music. The group was founded with a lineup of Jonas Wallinder on bass guitar, Rickard Gustafsson on drums, Karl Walfridsson on vocals, and Mattias Johansson on guitar, with Jonathan Jansson joining on guitar in 2003. After releasing two demos, the group issued their debut EP Allhärskare (2000), followed by the EP Songs of Solomon (2001) and a split EP with Sanctifica. Their debut studio album, Blod, was released on March 14, 2003, via Rivel Records. Following four years of silence, the band released the single “Leviathan” (2007), a compilation album titled A Decade of Thoughts 1996–2006 (2007), and their second studio album, Aurum, which was released on June 20, 2007, via Whirlwind Records. The group released their third studio album, Incarnate, on January 21, 2014, via Rottweiler Records. In 2021, the band released their fourth studio album, Marching Out of Babylon (2021), through Nordic Mission, which featured the politically charged single “We the People” (2021). Other releases include the singles “The Initiation” (2010) and “Awesome God” (2016).
