Biography
Dark Suns, a progressive metal band from Leipzig, Germany, was founded in 1997 by singer and drummer Niko Knappe and guitarist Tobias Gommlich. The group initially formed from the remnants of bands Carnival of Souls and Requiem, with Maik Knappe on guitar, Oliver Fricke on bass, and Thomas Bremer on keyboards, completing the lineup. They released their first demo Below Dark Illusion in 1998. In 2002, the band released their debut album, Swanlike. After Dark Suns signed with Prophecy Productions, they released their second album, Existence, in 2005. The group toured extensively, including a European tour with Pain of Salvation in the same year and appearances at festivals like ProgPower Europe in 2006. Subsequent albums included Grave Human Genuine (2008) and Orange (2011).
