Formed in London in 2014, the British group Collabro has the particularity of having a repertoire made up of themes taken mainly from musicals. Akin to boy bands, its members were not recruited by a producer but got to know each other on social networks, on the initiative of Jamie Lamber and Matt Pagan, joined by Michael Auger, Thomas J. Redgrave and Richard Hadfield. A month after their formation, the quintet auditioned for and won the 8th season of Britain's Got Talent, which enabled them to record their first album for the Syco label, Stars, which immediately reached No. 1 in the UK and was certified gold. Consisting mainly of covers of musicals past and present, from West Side Story, The Wizard of Oz and Les Misérables to Moulin Rouge and The Snow Queen, the album also includes versions of songs by John Legend and OneRepublic. Between tours and after a new contract with Sony Masterworks, Collabro recorded a second album, Act Two, ranked #2 in 2015. Reduced to four members after the departure of Richard Hadfield, the band set up its own Peak Productions label and followed up with Home (2017), which reached No. 7 and included the original track "Lighthouse" . Collabro then embarked on a summer tour with Cliff Richard, and in 2018 released their fourth studio album, Road to the Royal Albert Hall (No. 9), the title of which refers to the tour that followed, ending at the famous London venue in April 2019. The same year, a new contract is signed with BMG for the release of the album Love Like This (no. 22), followed in 2020 by Christmas Is Here (no. 80). In 2022, the band simultaneously announces the release of the album Be Still My Soul and a farewell tour. However, Collabro reunited in 2025, for a concert followed by the Live in London album and a tour of British cathedrals in 2026.
