Ben Sharp is an American musician based in Columbus, Ohio, who performs under the stage name Cloudkicker. Sharp, who is a commercial airline pilot, established the project in 2005 and is known for a musical style that blends post-rock, post-metal, and progressive metal. He composes and records all of his material independently and originally intended for Cloudkicker to be a studio-only venture. His debut studio album, The Discovery, was released (2008) through Myspace as a free download. He followed this with the studio album Beacons (2010), which was his first recording to receive a physical release due to significant fan demand. Sharp achieved a breakthrough in 2011 with the album Let Yourself Be Huge, which featured his first vocal performance on the eponymous track âLet Yourself Be Hugeâ (2011). His subsequent recordings include the studio albums Subsume (2013), which was inspired by the Haruki Murakami novel 1Q84, and Woum (2015). In 2014, he conducted a short North American tour with the bands Intronaut and TesseracT, subsequently releasing the recording Live with Intronaut (2014) through Century Media Records. His later work includes the studio albums Unending (2019) and Things You Can't Change (2025).
