Biography

The Cliff Adams Singers, a British male/female vocal group known for ballads and novelty songs, were established in 1954 by Clifford William Adams. Born on August 21, 1923, in Southwark, London, England, Adams began his musical career as a big band pianist before forming the Stargazers vocal group in 1949. The Cliff Adams Singers gained prominence through their regular performances on BBC Radio, starting with Sing Something Simple on July 3, 1959. This show featured Adams's arrangements of popular songs and was broadcast every Sunday until shortly after his death. The group had a Top 40 hit in the UK Singles Chart in 1960 with "Lonely Man Theme" credited to the Cliff Adams Orchestra. Their albums, often titled Sing Something Simple, reached notable positions on the UK Albums Chart, including number 15 in 1960 and 1962. Notable releases include several "Very Best Of" compilations. Adams died on October 22, 2001.
