Biography
Christine Ebersole, born on February 21, 1953, in Winnetka, Illinois, is an American singer and actress. She began her career with a minor role in the romantic comedy Tootsie (1982) and portrayed Caterina Cavalieri in the Academy Award-winning film Amadeus (1984). Ebersole made her Broadway debut in the play Angel Street (1975) and won two Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical for her roles in 42nd Street (2001) and Grey Gardens (2006). She was also Tony-nominated for Dinner at Eight (2003) and War Paint (2017). On television, she started with the soap opera Ryan's Hope (1977â1980) and as a cast member of Saturday Night Live (1981â1982). She earned an Emmy Award nomination for her work in One Life to Live. She appeared on the concept album Bright Lights, Big City, and released an album of Noël Coward songs.
