Chris Ayer, born on January 7, 1984, in Stanford, California, is an American musician known for his work as a singer-songwriter, musician, and producer. He began playing guitar and writing songs at age 18 while attending Stanford University. Ayer's first full-length album, This is the Place, was recorded in Nashville and released in 2006. He won the folk category in the 2006 John Lennon Songwriting Contest for his original song "Evaporate". Ayer signed to Sony in the UK and Europe in January 2013 and released The Noise. He toured extensively in Europe, including performances with Matt Simons.
