Biography
Charmaine Clamor is a Filipino singer from the Philippines who combines Filipino folk songs with American jazz and blues, born in Subic, Zambales. She began her singing career at age three. She started entertaining passengers on buses traveling to Manila and later provided piano accompaniment for her mother's performances of kundiman and English classics. At 16, she moved to the United States and pursued a master's degree in physical therapy. Clamor released Searching for the Soul (2005) on FreeHam Records, marking the start of her music career. She made the top five on the Jazzweek World charts at number 2 and Traditional Jazz charts at number 4, and was the first Filipino-American musician to place two consecutive recordings in the World Music top ten. Clamor performed at notable venues such as the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City and appeared on NPR's Weekend Edition and BBC's The World. Her album Something Good was released in 2010.
