Biography

Charlie Cruz (born 3 April 1975 in Naguabo, Puerto Rico) is a salsa singer who grew up in Paterson, Jersey, and returned to Puerto Rico. He first appeared as a vocalist on his father Fonzy Cruz’s recordings and studied piano while working with Domingo Quiñones’s orchestra. His breakthrough came with the 1999 album Imagínate, followed by Así Soy (2000), Un Chico Malo (2001), and Ven a Mi (2003). In 2003 he released the EP Super Seis, and in 2008 the album Dinámico under a new label. Notable tracks include "Amor de Verdad" (remix, 2016) and "Tú Me Confundes." In 2013 he released Huellas, framed as a tribute to Frankie Ruiz and featuring a guest appearance by Domingo Quiñones, and in 2016 he joined Bobby Cruz’s Salsa Factory Bunch. His later output shifted toward EPs and singles, including Tentaciones VOL 1 (2021), Tentaciones VOL 2 (2022), and Recordar Es Vivir (2023), followed by a run of standalone releases and collaborations such as “Nuestro Aniversario” (2024), “Lo Que Se Ve No Se Pregunta” with Naomi-Z (2025), “Pastele y Lechon” (2025), and “Ella No Tiene La Culpa” (2026).
