Cedric Watson, born in 1983 in San Felipe, Texas, is an African American Cajun accordionist who grew up surrounded by blues, old soul, country, and zydeco music. He developed an affinity for the old-style French songs of Southwest Louisiana, leading him to Lafayette, where he contributed to Creole music. Watson's career began with collaborations including Dexter Ardoin and Jeffrey Broussard. He released his debut album Goin' Down to Louisiana in 2006, followed by Cedric Watson in 2008. In 2010, he appeared on the television show Treme. Cedric Watson formed Bijou Creole in 2006 and has performed extensively across the United States and internationally. He has also been nominated four times for the Grammy Awards.
