Biography
Even though Argentine rapper and singer Cazzu experimented with genres like cumbia and rock at the beginning of her musical journey, it wasn't until she dipped her toes in trap and Latin urban music that her career took off. Born Julieta Emilia Cazzuchelli on December 16, 1993, in Ledesma, Jujuy, she inherited her father's love for music and began singing from a very young age. After graduating high school, she relocated to Tucumán to study cinematography and later to Buenos Aires to study graphic design. Following the release of her debut EP Maldades in 2017, Cazzu burst onto Argentina's vibrant trap scene through an appearance on Khea's "Loca," whose remix version also featured Bad Bunny. Known for her fiercely independent ethos and strong female empowerment message, Cazzu continued her steady ascent to the top with the release of her studio debut Error 93 in 2019, which was presented through three sold-out shows at Buenos Aires' Teatro Ãpera and a lengthy national tour. In 2020, she performed at the legendary CosquÃn Rock festival, issued the EP Bonus Trap, and received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Released later that year, her second extended play Niña Inútil combined her love for R&B with the work of poet Alfonsina Storni. Preceded by the Top 20 single "Maléfica" with MarÃa Becerra, her second studio effort Nena Trampa appeared in 2022. The album featured cameos by De La Ghetto, Randy, Brray, Luar la L, and Ankhal, as well as the raunchy reggaeton anthem "Isla Velde." In 2023, she unveiled the deluxe edition of Nena Trampa, featuring orchestral and mariachi renditions of "Los Hombres No Lloran" and "Piénsame," along with collaborations like "Brinca" with Young Miko and "Glock" with La Joaqui . That same year, she joined Los Ãngeles Azules and Santa Fe Klan on the cumbia track "Tú y Tú," which garnered significant attention . After a hiatus marked by motherhood and personal challenges, including her separation from Christian Nodal, Cazzu made a powerful return to the stage at the Buenos Aires Trap Festival in December 2024 . She also released "La Cueva," a poignant ballad reflecting on heartbreak and resilience. In early 2025, she explored the corrido tumbado genre with "Dolce" and revisited her cumbia roots in "Con Otra," collaborating with Karina La Princesita. April 2025 marked the release of her ambitious album Latinaje, a 14-track homage to Latin American culture and her daughter, Inti. The album spans genres like tango, folklore, bachata, and funk, with standout tracks such as "Inti," "Mala Suerte," and "Loca" featuring WIU.
