Biography

3rd child of David Winans and Delores Winans née Ransom, Carvin Winans Sr. (born in Detroit on March 5, 1958) formed the R&B group The Winans with his brothers Marvin, Ronald and Michael, releasing their debut album Introducing the Winans in 1981 and enjoying two decades of success, culminating in Heart & Soul in 1995. While his six other siblings also released numerous solo and group albums, such as BeBe & CeCe Winans during the same period, Carvin Winans belatedly recorded his first album, In the Softest Way, released in 2019. In an R&B and gospel vein, just like the whole family, he also collaborated with The Gospel Buggy Choir as early as 1989 on the album Gospel Buggy, long before his return in 2024 with the single "God Still Working on Me".
