Carmen Cavallaro, born on May 6, 1913, in New York City, New York, United States, was an American pianist. He began playing piano at age three and studied classical piano before touring Europe as a young performer. In 1933, he joined Al Kavelin's orchestra, becoming the featured soloist. He later worked with Rudy Vallee and formed his own band in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1939, which expanded into a 14-piece orchestra. He released numerous albums for Decca Records, including Dancing in the Dark (1939). In 1963, he had a million-seller hit recording with the song "Sukiyaki". His notable collaborations include working with vocalist Guy Mitchell and appearing in films such as Hollywood Canteen (1944). He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6301 Hollywood Boulevard. He died from prostate cancer and pneumonia on October 12, 1989, in Columbus, Ohio.
