Biography

Candye Kane, born Candice Caleb on November 13, 1961, in Ventura, California, was an American singer and songwriter known for her work in blues and jazz. She self-released her first recording, Burlesque Swing (1987). She later signed to Antones Records and released Home Cookin' (1992). Subsequent albums included Diva La Grande (1997), Swango (1998), and The Toughest Girl Alive (2000). Kane was nominated for multiple awards, including two Blues Music Awards in 2011. She toured extensively until her death on May 6, 2016. Other albums included Knockout (1995), Hard Headed Woman – A Tribute to Wanda Jackson (2000), Whole Lotta Love (2003), and Coming Out Swingin' (2013).
