Biography

Camilla Granlien, born on 3 November 1974 in Elverum, Norway, is a Norwegian folk singer and stev performer. She studied music at Voss Folk High School, Ole Bull Academy, and Telemark University College. Granlien began her career as an educator, teaching song at the Norwegian Academy of Music and secondary schools in Vinstra and Gjøvik. Granlien made her solo album debut in 2005 with Begjær. In 2008, she released Jarnnetter, which featured lyrics by poets Tor Jonsson and Olav Aukrust, combining traditional melodies with music composed by Granlien. Her 2011 album Aftenstemning was a collaboration with jazz saxophonist Kristin Sevaldsen and included songs such as "Treet," "O visste du bare," and "Dulgt kjærlighet." In 2013, she participated on the album Songs by Geirr Tveitt. Granlien won first prize in the vocal folk music class at Landskappleiken in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
