Biography
Forró eletrônico mainstays Calcinha Preta began in Aracaju, Sergipe, on December 8, 1995, when producer Gilton Andrade formed the group following a previous ensemble named Santa Rosa; early vocalists included Sidney âChuchuâ and Luciana Linhares, and their debut studio album A Banda de Forró Mais Gostosa do Brasil (1996) quickly sold over 100,000 copies. They gained regional traction with 1997âs hit âOnde o Sonho Moraâ before breaking through nationally in 1998 with A Moçada é Só Filé!, which spawned gold-certified singles such as âDesilusão,â âSaudade,â and âJura Que Me Ama.â In 2000, after lineup changes including Daniel Diau's temporary departure, they released Sou Seu Amor featuring the standalone hits âCobertor,â âLouca Por Ti,â and âHello.â The arrival of vocalists Raied Neto and Silvânia Aquino prefaced their peak era: in 2003, the DVD Ao Vivo em Salvador recorded before 125,000 fans achieved doubleâdiamond status, followed in 2005 by Show Histórico in Belém, selling over 1.6 million copies and featuring elaborate stage production. Studio albums Hoje à Noite â Inéditas e Ao Vivo and Mágica (both in 2004), Dois Amores, Duas Paixões (2006), and Como Vou Deixar Você? (2007) consolidated their blend of romantic forró and electric guitarâdriven covers. The 2008 introduction of Bell Oliver sustained momentum, highlighted by 2009âs reimagined âVocê Não Vale Nadaâ (from Volume 20), which featured on Globoâs Caminho das Ãndias, earning eponymous awards. In 2010â11 they celebrated 15 years with Sou Assim, Não Vou Mudar and Meu Primeiro Namorado, recording a 360° DVD in Maceió featuring special guests, and continued releasing thematic albums like Eu Amo Você (2012), Premium (2013), and Balada Prime (2015). Subsequent milestones include 2020âs CP 25 Anos DVD with star cameos, livestreams during the pandemic, and the 2022 tribute context following the tragic passing of longâtime vocalist Paulinha Abelha, including the release of the song âAbelha Que Virou Anjo.â Between 2023 and 2024 the band welcomed Oâhara Ravick, recorded the Atemporal DVD in Salvador featuring past vocalists, and in 2025 planned the Atemporal 360° tour, demonstrating their enduring presence in Brazilian forró.
