João Pedro Correia de Carvalho, known as JottaPê, was born on June 2, 2000, in São Paulo, Brazil. He began his artistic career as a child actor, gaining prominence with roles in films like O Menino da Porteira (2009) and television shows such as Uma Rosa com Amor. Transitioning to music in his adolescence, JottaPê adopted the stage name MC Jottapê and became a notable figure in Brazilian funk. His breakthrough came with the single "Sentou e Gostou" (2019), a cover of Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road", which peaked at number 4 on streaming charts. In 2017, he signed with KondZilla Productions and released several successful singles including "Bota Em Você Machuca" (2022) and "Eterna Sacanagem" (2019). JottaPê also starred in the Netflix series Sintonia (2019), portraying Donizete. In 2022, he released his EP Cowboy do Mandelão. Tying his screen role back to the studio in early 2025, he issued the series single âHerói ou Vilãoâ via Netflix Music. The same month marked a major personal turn: at a February 1, 2025 event in São Paulo he announced his conversion to Christianity and said it would be his final funk show, later explaining that stepping away from the genre and sponsorship deals carried significant financial penalties; in subsequent interviews and podcasts he detailed a two-year process of faith that began after moving to Alphaville and deepened through church community, leading to his public commitment. "Dimas - O Ladrão," his first Christian single, arrived in September 2025.
