Biography

Robert Russell, known as Brigadier Jerry, was a Jamaican dancehall reggae deejay. He began his career in the early 1970s as a deejay with U Roy's King Stur-Gav sound system. In 1982, Jerry released his first singles “Pain” and “Gwan a School”. His debut album, Live at the Controls (1983), was released, followed by his debut studio album, Jamaica Jamaica (1985). Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Jerry released albums such as Freedom Street (1995) and collaborated with Dennis Brown on the song “Talkative”. Jerry was known for his live performances and toured extensively.
